Dr. Mattam was rude from my first phone call as a new patient. Would not take herself off of speaker phone although I was struggling to understand her. It was about her convenience, certainly not mine. In nearly 15 yrs as a psych patient, I’ve never experienced such an ego or lack of compassion. She kept trying to catch me in lies about my dosage, diagnosis, & frequency of previous doctor visits. I came for help and left feeling blindsided by her adversarial stance. Didn’t go to get beat up!!
This lady has BAD mojo! She’s never wrong, she condisends, she is cold & uncaring. I was an intellectual match for her & pointed out many illogical stmts & contradictions in her discussions with me. She felt threatened and asked me why I even came to see her then. My answer: I didn’t know you would talk down to me, have no ability to support your stmts, be cold & caculating, You can’t support your opinions & you insult me by thinking I will put up with that! She is bad news folks. Stay away!
Like many of the lower reviews, I had an extremely similar experience with this doctor. Completely condescending and out of touch by not listening to a word I said. She had me diagnosed before I even finished my history. I too filled out a questionnaire, which she scanned and have a diagnosis that normally takes months of treatment to diagnose. I tried to take her seriously and looked up the condition. Totally wrong after 2nd opinion by another doc.
She asked trivial, cursory questions, made fun of & laughed at my treatment protocol to date. Gave me a questionnaire that took 2 minutes to complete, spent another 2 minutes scanning it, arrived at an obscure diagnosis and treatment plan, asked questions but NEVER let me finish answering. Ushered me out saying not to expect to spend more than ten minutes with her again. She's a disaster; no bedside/patient side manner, zero personality/professional curiosity. Opinionated rude rushed.
Dr Mattam was direct and to the point about making a diagnosis and outlining treatment plan for me. She got right to the root of my issues and addressed them kindly and professionally.
She told me I should just get over PTSD. My mother had a heart attack in front of me and died. She told me people get in car wrecks all the time and I should get over it. you don't ever get over that happening in front of you that's why you get PTSD which is a real disease. If it was that easy to get over PTSD people who have it wouldn't commit suicide everyday. Please be careful of this doctor.

Very dismissive of most everything I had to say. I showed up early for a 9 am appointment and wasn't taken back until after 930. She made me repeat everything I said, I had to look up names to confirm that I was a patient at Harken Health last year because *she* had never heard of it so I must be wrong. She argued my own history with me, telling me that I was mistaken and the county didn't operate that way. Felt very dismissive and did not feel like she cared at all.
myexperience with Dr. Mattam has been excellent. I have been a patient for many years. Dr. Mattam is extremely knowledgeable about medicine. She really tries to listen and engage you as a patient. She is kind and fair and is able to understand what you are going through and helps you get through it. The office is always clean. I really like the front desk employee, She always greets and engages you with warm conversation and always willing to help. There is no to minimal wait to be seen.
