We believe that mental illness is a treatable condition, but Dr. Wassef does not believe in using benzo's for that treatment due to the side effects and long term effects they have on the human brain.

I started seeing Dr. Wassef in my early 50s and have been amazed at the difference his treatment has made! Diagnosed with adult ADHD, I feel like a switch has been flipped and suddenly see things in such a different light! It’s like a miracle for me.
His receptionist has no business working in a psychiatric setting. There are no calls for appointment reminders. I called into the office and she wouldn't tell me when my next appointment was.and because I missed an appointment and didn't make another within 2 weeks, the doctor dropped me. When the receptionist told me this, she was particularly nasty and condescending and seemed to relish it. Because of this, I've been without medication now for four months. Doctor only cares about your money.
I think Dr. Wassef is a great dr although he is strict. He has a bad bedside manner so I would not recommend if somebody is looking for empathy from a dr. After years of struggling with medications Dr Wassef was able to find something that works for me. The only downside that I have is that I feel like he does not spend enough time with patients.
Dr. Wassef doesn't have your best interest at heart. He only listens to his own counsel, and will disregard your opinion and your past medical history. There are a lack of psychiatric options in East Texas in general, but I cannot recommend him at all. He is rude, doesn't let you speak, and will diagnose you with something you don't have to push his agenda. For the sake of your health seek someone else.
Dr. Wassef should not be practicing medicine. First he tries to make me take two medication I can not take, due to server side effects, when I try to explain this to him he gets defensive and angry. God forbid you have a question. He will become passive/aggressive if you ask a question. he takes it personal. He has a major God complex. I would not recommend him to anyone. If I had followed his orders, I would be dead right now. He is a mince to society.
Wassef is extremely rude plus They Lost all my blood work and scheduled appointments multiple times. Very unprofessional operation.
Dr Wassef is not only a doctor, but a mentor, and friend. I have known him for years, and he has a genuine kind heart.
This guy seems to have no regard for your actual well-being. He may be a great Dr... I don't know, because his bedside manner is terrible. He's rude, and he doesn't care. My daughter was a new patient, and he was rude to me and rude to her. When he asked if any trauma had occurred in her life and was told her father died two years ago, his reply was, "So what? My father died when I was 10. No big deal." Really? That's an awesome way to help someone who is dealing with deep depression. Way to go.
Terrible dr. Refused to take me off of meds I was having a severe reaction to. Said some extremely insensitive things to me.
