Best doctor and surgeon in the area! Excellent bedside manner.
The fact I needed surgery took me completely by surprise. Dr. Koen replaced three discs in my neck. Now I know why the pain was so bad. I had a million questions and Dr. Koen answered them all. His credentials and experience speak for themselves. It's only been five months since my operation but I'm happy to say I am symptom and pain free. Thank you, Dr. Koen. And. Thanks to Karla for teaching me how to do one of those "video chat thingies" instead of a regular appointment. (COVID).
Dr. Koen has operated on my spine three times, a laminectomy when I needed emergency surgery, a Xlif and recently a Tlif using morphogenetic bone. I had polio as a child, and RA as an adult. Dr. Koen has made it possible for me to walk. I now have 6 posts, four screws, four artificial disks, two Titanium rods, 6 spacers, four bolts. . . the list goes on. From my initial consultation to my final appointment with Dr Koen, I was completely impressed with his confidence and knowledge and with the way he communicated with me . Thank you Dr. Koen!!!!!
I saw him for a cervical disc issue four years ago, and he basically made me feel as though my issues weren't the worst case he's ever seen and that I shouldn't be having as many symptoms as I have. Fast forward to 2019. I have bone spurs every where, a disc bulging into my spinal cord. My symptoms are even worse than before and I am seeing a different neurosurgeon that listens and understands his patient instead of discounting their symptoms.
I absolutely love Dr. Koen and his staff! I feel that I receive the most personalized care and his Secretary is phenomenal! I look forward to my appointments and I have never been disappointed. By far the most excellent care I've ever received! Highly Recommended to anyone that is in need of a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Koen is great!! His staff however, not so much. They dont answer the phone, and they do not call you back. It's a shame a really good Dr. has such a subpar staff. I have left messages to call me after they were to verify with him. They never called back and they do not answer the phone... always a recording.
I was very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Koen. He was very rude and argumentative on my first appointment and I will be seeking a different doctor. I know that specialists in this field can have a total God complex, but one thing this man needs to learn is compassion, a bedside manner, and manners. The only ways that we can voice our support is through the internet, and whome we chose to let operate on us. My leaving his practice won't make a dent in his earnings, but I hope it does
