Called to make an appointment to be told I couldn't without information about a surgery I had 23 years ago when I was 18 - I needed doctor, date and location. I understand that need but I called for an app to see someone for terrible shoulder pain that is new - never had till now- 23 years later and is refused a visit. The person on the phone was rude and less than helpful.

I was very pleased with the visit with Dr. Stein. He was very honest about what I could expect from surgical replacement of my left elbow. Being limited to less than 2 lbs. of pressure on that arm would mean that I would have less ability to transfer and use my arm than I have now. Since I am satisfied with the status quo, he recommended AGAINST surgery. There are hours every day that I have no pain, and I thank God for the blessings I've been given. Thank you for your careful attention and kindness!

I feel if you not getting surgery he be so annoyed. My visit was only like 5 minutes. If I didn't ask about my MRI he wouldn't say nothing about. He was like nothing wrong with your shoulder just go get injections. Then said that my neck was the issue when i just had neck surgery. He just sent me to Dr. Khoie which he don't do shoulders. I love all my Orthopedics doctors but Dr. Stein is the worst.

Dr. Stein specializes in shoulder and elbow repair. I had dealt with shoulder pain for several years. I could no longer throw a ball, put my hands behind my head or reach up to paint or repair anything in my home. Dr. Stein reviewed my x-ray and showed me where a burr or spur had formed. He told me that a replacement would be the best way to resolve the problem. I told him that others had told me that shoulder surgeries were hard to heal. Dr. Stein told me with a lot of confidence that he had performed 150 surgeries the prvi... read more

Dr Stein is incredible. Though he is in Baltimore and I am in Washington, he has operated on many of my patients so when my turn came, he was my natural choice. He replaced my left shoulder. He was very conservative and tried less invasive methods first but when they stopped working, it was time for surgery. He took his time explaining RX everything and answered all my questions. He called me after the surgery to make sure I was continuing to do well. I had very little pain after surgery. I feel lucky he was my surgeon!!!!!!... read more

Unless you require surgery, don't bother making an appt. He seems quite competent, but unless the x-ray shows surgery required, you will be classified as having "non-surgical shoulder pain" and told to do PT and get a cortisone shot--no MRI required.

Dr. Stein performed a distal biceps tendon repair on my left arm (dominant arm) almost four years ago. It is important to note that I am a graphic designer/illustrator and my arm is essential to my career. My arm completely healed over the course of the first year. I followed all exercises and stretching guidance from both Dr. Stein and his associate Steven Doll, PA-C. Dr. Stein had an excellent bedside manner, was considerate, thorough and kind. He immediately went to the waiting room and updated my wife on my condition whi... read more

Simply put he is the most dismissive arrogant doctor. Medstar should be ashamed. My other doctors there like Dr Levine are great. He ruined my shoulder. And he blamed me for it.
