I’m a physical therapist and had my 15 y/o son see Dr. Pena. Misdiagnosed him and recommended unnecessary surgery. Condescending and arrogant with no regard to my sons history which did not match his X-rays. He’s negligent and I never write reviews but I am fearful people with no medical knowledge will be taken advantage of. Do not trust him.

I was referred to Dr. Pena for a second opinion on orthopedic surgery. He asked me several basic questions about my medical history that made it clear he did not read my chart at all or converse with the nurse I had just given this history to. Then he was patronizing when I asked questions about his proposed treatment plan. I did not end up scheduling surgery with him because I did not trust him to do it based on this appointment.

Poor bedside manner. Seemed like he was always in a rush and didn't have time for me. I had to ask to see the x-rays which I felt was really bad. No visit directly after surgery. Seemed like getting on to the next person was more important. Months after surgery got a second opinion and was told a different procedure should of been done for my right foot big toe fusion. So after all the time, money, pain and misery I have to have the toe fusion completely redone. Had a terrible experience. Will not go back.

Dr. Pena performed flat foot reconstruction surgery on my son. We were told by two other orthopedic surgeons that the surgery would take hours. Dr. Peña finish the surgery in less than an hour. We were sent home even though our son was in excruciating pain. He suffered for two weeks because every time I called the clinic I was told it was to be expected. He had four incisions on his foot and when they took the cast off they had all opened up due to a massive blood clot in his foot. You could actually see the bone in his heel... read more

My doc retired and I went to See dr Pena for a cortizone shot. I asked for a doc as i didnt not want to have a nurse administer the shot, but I guess he thought he was above it and would not administer it. Questioned My previous doc diagnosis and pushed surgery right away. Fell like he has a quota to fill and i was just a number. Told him i don’t want surgery for My neuroma and he just brushed it and said ok then do the shot. Need less to say- Ill be looking for a New doc. My previous doc was so good and nice giving me optio... read more

Dr. Pena performed surgery on my toe. Following the surgery I was in a great deal of pain and reached out. His nurse relayed that Dr. Pena said that I could take Acetaminophen which I explained had not helped. After a few dismissive emails I gave up. After a month of excruciating night pain, I went into my follow-up. He then told me I had neuropathy and prescribed a medication. That night was the first time I slept pain free. Unfortunately, I had to wait a month before he would listen to me. In addition, after 3 months in a ... read more

I suffered a Lisfranc injury to my foot, quite a severe injury. The first surgeon I saw told me I'd had a "life-changing injury," and the worst case he'd seen in 10 years. At the end of the appointment, he said he would not "even touch it," and instead referred me to Dr Pena. At my TRIA consult appointment, I was extremely impressed by the staff and their efficient, supportive patient care. Dr Pena's PA met with me and explained that there were 2 possible surgical scenarios. Dr Pena then came in, after reviewing my case, and... read more
