Very friendly place! My son and I were passing through Lynchburg on vacation, and he needed to work out in preparation for a powerlifting meet. They let both of us use the gym for free, and they had really good equipment for a gym that does not specifically cater to powerlifters: two benches, an incline bench, a squat rack, dumbbells and a bunch of machines. My only complaint was that it was weird working out to light rock/pop instead of the hardcore/metal we are used to! :-) I recommend this gym for anyone looking for a goo... read more
Leo, there must be a work-around for you to cancel your membership. All the folks downtown have been super helpful to me. Might it be possible to fax something like a cancelation form and prove to them who is sending it? Maybe your membership number, I've heard of spiteful spouses canceling things before! Good luck, in the meantime use the policy Y's have that allows you to use other YMCAs across the country.
Can't cancel my membership though I've requested several times now. They keep charging you until you come in to cancel. Nevermind if you're too far away to make the trip in. Two months now they've pulled $46 from my account and I haven't made one trip in. $92 out of my pocket with no service from the company. RIDICULOUS!
I think it's a good place to exercise in peace!
