About this business
Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. We will all miss seeing Abe's smiling face. I am glad my little daughters got to see him when we were in Norfolk last August.

My first date with my wife was at Doumar's for Taylor's pork roll and milk shake Mr Doumar RIP I will always remember him making old fashion cones in front of the store

Been going to Doumar's for what seems like for ever. I remember going after school (Graduate of Maury High School '94) and was happy when I was able to take my kids to experience the Doumar's way. I currently live in SC but go everytime I am back in Norfolk to visit.
