Long wait, good food – You can't really hold the long waits against them, it's a sign of how good the food is. Normally I wouldn't like something this trendy, but it is refreshing by normal Indian restaurant standards. The food is very good, they get the basics right. Dosa's and idli sambar were great, as good as the places in the south bay, except with much better service and ambiance. Beware of the long wait for a table. Oh, and they need to get a real bar, Soju s*cks!

Nice bar, half decent food, lousy Maitre'd – Walked in (3 of us) exactly at 7:48pm to be told that a table would take 20 mins. We nodded politely at each other in agreement and indicated that we'd wait at the bar. At 8:37pm one of us went up to the Maitre'd to inquire and was told "table would take 20 mins". Decided to give it another 15 or 20 mins. Talked to the hostess again at 8:55pm who coolly (with not so much as a single apology) tells us -- "Oh, I suggest that u just eat at the bar. I'm not sure I can get u a table". ... read more

Great Food, Lame Music – Food was outstanding. Cool place, BUT the music was horrible! The place has a great international, hip vibe, but the music is lame KFOG-like vanilla, pop music. If they'd play some world or even lounge music, the place would get a 10.

My Favorite Restaurant in SF - Hands Down!! – Definitely my favorite restaurant in San Francisco and it could be because I grew up in Southern India (as a Gujrati) and find most Europeans cuisine very bland and boring. I go there often when I'm not traveling outside SF with my consulting gig. I recently went there with a few of my American colleagues and we hung out for almost three hours, consumed almost everything on the menu and drank some amazing white and red wines. It was "oral ecstasy" as they described it! :-) This p... read more

NOT-TO-MISS Stellar Dining Experience – Above all else the food here is consistently outstanding. I always enjoy coming here and bringing friends and family. The have a great selection of affordable wines with nice little tasting notes to guide you through the wine list. The experience and ambiance itself is very unique. Yes, you can drive across the bridge for sub-standard South Indian food, awful ambiance and crappy service. But why bother. Did I mention the food here is always amazing!!!! Some of favorites are the Onion p... read more

NOT worth the wait! – As a South Indian, I was initially thrilled to come across this place because there are so few South Indian restaurants in this country. However, after waiting over 2 hours for a table and being addressed in an extremely rude way by the management, I was sad to find that the food was the biggest disappointment of all. The dosas were soggy and bland overall. The spring dosa in particular was just plain unappetizing. The desserts were the only redeeming qualities. If you want real South Indian food, this ... read more

Spicy South Indian specialties inside a hip, sparsely decorated Mission restaurant. – Basking the alluring glow cast by the dangling light fixtures on the orange-gold walls at this Mission hotspot you'll find a diverse and good-looking crowd. Newcomers to Indian cuisine are put at ease with casual, informative menu descriptions and eating tips. The citrusy Chennai chicken is a superior starter--moist cubes are bathed in organic yogurt, lightly fried and spiced with a medley of cilantro, coriander and cumin. The restaurant's ... read more

Worth the long wait – Our first attempt at trying to dine at Dosa did not go so well because there was a two hour wait and we didn't want to wait that long. The second attempt was a 30 minute wait and out it the cold, along with many hopeful diners. So was the wait worth it for us? Definitely. We first started off with the Chennai Chicken- chicken cubes marinated in yogurt and with flavored with cilantro, coriander, cumin and curry leaves, lightly fried, served with mixed greens. It was delicious. We then picked our dosa- my... read more

Well Deserved Praise – I'm of South Indian origin and I've been going to Dosa almost once or twice a month for the past 8 months since I first discoverd it. I go back with all my Indian brethren and we're never ever dissapointed. The dosas are amazing, the sambar is better than anything I've ever had and the non-veg dishes are outstanding. My favorite is the Prawn Coconut, but the Tamil Lamb is a pretty close second. They also have great salads, which is very unusual for an Indian restaurant and a phenomenal wine list that p... read more
