With a menu full of flavorful dishes, all served without a pinch of pretension, Dosa has established itself as one of the top choices for those seeking a bite to eat in the Mission District. The menu specializes in South Indian dishes, especially in the restaurant's namesake dish, the dosa. In addition to the fresh samplings on the plate, this restaurant is also famed for its excellent wine menu, and the pairings that serve to bring out the best of both food and drink. Even with so many other restaurants in the area, DOSA is... read more

Delicious Southern Indian Food, seated in a sunny window on Valencia. Started with a fabulous spiced ginger and rum concoction...the sort of go to drink for a really hot day, and a great compliment to the heat that is a hallmark of many Indian dishes, served with a basket of crunchy papadum and an assortment of dips...the Samosas were perfect, crisp but melt in your mouth flaky pastry and tasty and moist inside. We chose paneer and peas dosa ( Indian version of a crepe) with perfect raita, mint and tamarind sauces... The ser... read more

Habenaro mango masala rocks!
Great Place!! – When I go out to eat, I expect to pay a lot for my meal. I also expect to get a lot of food for that money. I'm a bit of a foodie and only want the best. Well, this place did deliver a great meal that I really enjoyed, only the portion was so small that I left feeling hungry still. The price wasn't worth the meal. However, the ambiance is very nice.
This place was pretty nice. On the expensive side but well worth it.
DOSA IS HORRIBLE! The food is totally OVERPRICED and OVERRATED! The staff is not seasoned and experienced, and the restaurant is way too noisy. And whatever you do, DON'T EVER host a dinner party there. They have NO IDEA what they're doing. My dinner party was unbelievably EMBARRASSING! It was SO humiliating to arrange and bring a large group into the restaurant only to have Dosa fail me on every level. The food was horrible that night (slapped onto big plates with no garnishes and POOR taste), portions were tiny (i.e. not e... read more
amazing food – The food here is absolutely amazing and everyone should try this place atleast once... i'm sure you'll want to come back. I've heard that there can be a wait, but I went on a Wednesday around 8 and I did not have to wait at all. The staff are really friendly and the service is quick.
A delicious dinner – I loved dinner at Dosa last night! The food is really interesting and delicious. I had the persimmon salad, which was excellent if a bit small, and the Chana Masala dosa. The dosa was large enough to make up for the salad, and the chutneys to slather on it were delicious and just spicy enough to make it fun. Service was very attentive and friendly too. However, the music was turned up a bit too loud around 8:00 PM, and I could hardly hear my dinner date. Still, I would go back in a heartbeat.
Sodium overdose – We were there Saturday evening for dinner. The place was packed. We were happy to find a parking space nearby as we had been told that this is the place for good dosa. Needless to say, we were in for utmost disappointment. The Spring Masala was a form of taco wrapped with little vegetable inside and practically was very soggy. This came with masala (ground cashew nuts) and tomato & fresh coconut chutney and sambar (lentil dipping soup). The chutney is so salty & spicy that we could hardly discern any other ... read more
