Authenticity with a twist – I've been eating dosai since my first baby teeth came in, so I went in quite skeptically, but left eating out of Dosa's palm. The room is minimally decorated, but warm and inviting. My mother and father ordered the Rasam, which was prepared perfectly and served with a side of papadum. I gave our enchanting waitress the 5th degree about the difference between a Masala Uttapam and a Dosa Masala, which she answered expertly, making them both sound more delicious in the process, (maybe she was indian?... read more

Dosa Me Now! – Dosa is phenominal! Theres a reason its in the top 100 restuarants amongst thousands in San Francisco. From the hostess kindly calling my cell phone when my table was ready as my party had a beer down the street at Amnesia because Dosa was absolutely slammed on a Tuesday night, to the waiter guiding us through the menu and personally making food and wine recommendations that were extremely helpful for a mix group of Indian food lovers with one common goal of eatting amazing food. The Tamil Lamb Curry and the P... read more

More than tandoori?!! At DOSA there is... – I have been a lover of fine Indian cuisine for several years, and I must say that the menu at DOSA is refreshing! If your palette is at all discerning, I recommend you make reservations and invite your family and friends to enjoy a memorable night of familiar ingredients cooked the South Indian way. The atmosphere in DOSA is altogether warm. It begins with the owners, who are a married couple sharing the load, and the love, of seeing their dream of owning a restaurant actually come... read more

Welcome South Indian Food! – Dosa is a trendsetter in the San Francisco culinary scene. Where else can you find authentic south Indian food? This restaurant has blessed the Mission district with a new flavor and flare. Very exciting! You have to try the Chennai Chicken and the Masala Dosa - both amazing! And check out their impressive wine selections - mmmm, a glass of Viognier to compliment the meal. Nice work Dosa!

these dosas pass the street-cred test – As a hardened south indian dosa eater, i found the dosa consistency great - including the uncracked paper dosa. the rassam is extraordinary as is the chennai chicken gravy. you can get most stuffy made spicy enough for a range of tastes, including the roaring keralite type. good range of food even for newcomers to south indian food.

Finally, an indian restaurant in the city! – I love this place. I just moved here and have been searching for fabulous south indian cuisine at a good price- this place not only delivers that, but provides a fantastic ambience in a great location. I didn't have a reservation and showed up with a party of 13- the owners accomodated us and provided excellent food and service with a smile. I have recommended this new find to all my friends and will continue to do so. The dosas are incredible!

Great Food! – Outside the 1.5 hour wait for a Sat night, the food was terrific! The host that evening (who usually isn't the host) bought us a round of free drinks for waiting so patiently for a table. I've never had Southern Indian food before, let alone a Dosa - which turns out to be a nicely flavored crepe with herbs and spices meant to be shared and dipped in different sauces. My favorites for the evening were the firey broth, shrimp curry and any dosa! Next time, we're bringing a group of 5 of more to make a reservation... read more

Terrible service – I have personally recommended DOSA to a lot of my friends in the past. But I think with their increasing popularity, these ppl are becoming Haughty. They have forgotten that serving the customer is of utmost importance. They actually have the cheek to be rude and insulting to customers. I am sure their success would not be so if they continue this attitude and behaviour towards customers. Their food might be good, but it is of no use if they cannot be basic curteous to their customers. If you want to be in... read more

A happy marriage of hipness and authenticity – Hats off to Dosa for its South Indian cuisine! It's great to take friends to an Indian restaurant that doesn't serve the usual creamy, oily, shapeless glop that passes for Indian food. I liked the ambience and the bartenders are friendly. It's nice not to be rushed to a table...the bar's a great place to have a beer and the wait isn't too long anyway. I'd highly recommend the vada-sambar as an appetiser. Try the masala dosa with the chutneys and the sambar...it's very authentic,... read more
