Since 1961 Donn Adelman has been a fixture on the Austin music scene. Donn plays piano and sings, often accompanied by a bass player and a drummer. He has played in various clubs around Austin as well as playing in Las Vegas, until permanently establishing Donn's Depot in 1972. He has a very large repertoire so ask him to play your favorite song. Chances are...he'll know it.

I don’t feel comfortable calling this a “dive bar” because if it’s totally my kind of place, does that make me a “divey type”? Enough deep thinking, I was visiting Austin on a whim and tried Donn’s on a whim and had the absolute BEST time! I’m planning a return trip to Austin for February and a trip to Donn’s is at the top of the list!!
I’m in a conundrum here. Be honest or protect my favorite bar from becoming too popular? My honest side says I have to tell you that Donn’s is the friendliest bar with the absolute best bartenders (Michele and Tammy) and fabulously great music. The drinks are reasonable and quite tasty to my adult palette. The average age there is about 45 with almost everybody either 20-30 or over 60. There’s a generous dance floor if you’re so inclined.
