Much more impressive than I expected. Unfortunately didn't have time to hike around the base. Very impressed with the rangers, they gave informative talks and were great with the grandkids. They give them a little booklet with some projects to fill out, then give them a badge and swear them in as Jr. Rangers in a solemn ceremony. Our grand daughter took it so seriously, she started picking up trash where we went. Absolutely amazing piece of Mother Nature! We were lucky enough to watch someone climbing up the face of the tower. That takes some serious talent! This is a must see if you are in the area! We were able to go to Devils tower in the morning, drive to Crazy Horse, then up the road to Mt. Rushmore in time for the lighting ceremony without rushing to get to the next place. Wyoming and South Dakota rock!!

This is an amazing place to stop on a road trip! The hike is very doable and beautiful. We had a four year old who almost made it all the way around. She needed a bit of help to finish up.
