Derek's has evolved into the most sophisticated dining destination on Main Street. Some of our guests come in regularly for our great specials, from Sunday Bloody Sunday to Martini Thursday. Others come for a great steak and a romantic interlude. More than a restaurant – I am the Managing Director of Philomel Concerts, Inc. I want to thank Derek's for generously offering lunches to all of our musicians during their grouling rehearsals before all of our concert weekends, throughout the year. Derek's is not just a fantastic place to eat and mingle in downtown Manayunk, it is a generous hand to small nonprofits that need all the help they can get. So for this we thank you!!!!
Drink until the service is good... – It was a sunny Sunday, my friend and I snagged an outside table. We ordered calamari, and two salads for a light lunch- it was crowded, so we figure order something easy so they can't mess it up! Well, the table was crooked, so all the drinks and food kept sliding off the table. The calamari was good- however- I don't know where they went to get our lettuce, but it look over an hour to get our food! The couple next to us ordered after us and got their food first!! Fabulous! – I went in for brunch and it was excellant! The best brunch I've had in a long time. It seemed fairly busy and the staff was always in the right place at the right time. The Steak & Eggs were great, lots of flavor; and the Eggs Bene was a great twist on the good o'l stand by. Oh, and although I was too full to "thouroughly" enjoy the Bloody Mary special, $15 bottomless bloody mary's and any item from the brunch menu, they were delicious! From what I hear one of the Chefs created the recipe? :)
My New Spot! – First off, any bar that is non-smoking is right for me. I love the fact that i can hang all night, watch sports, and then go home and not smell like cigarette smoke! I think that this place has it all for me. I can have a burger or pizza at the bar, or have a four course dinner in the beautiful dining room. Derek's - A scene not a restaurant – We found Derek's to be quite disappointing. It's very crowded and noisy and is more of a scene than a restaurant. The food was average overall. $16.95 for 2 small lamb chops was overpriced and the whole grilled fish for $24.95 was bland and tasteless. The bread basket was completely burnt and should have never been served. Then there's the ridiculous "half-price" wine list! FANTASTIC – My wife and I had some out of town guests so we decided to take them into Manayunk when we came across Derek's. We stopped in for drinks and wound up staying for dinner. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the shrimp ravioli and lamb chops. Make sure you leave room for dessert. Our sever was terrific and let us know about the "half price" wine list. DEREK! WHAT DID YOU DO? – My wife and I usually go to Sonoma's during August on our wedding anniversay and my birthday which was last night. Upon arrival, it just wasn't right. Now, it's Derek's Sonoma, a loud, uninhabitable place where you take your chances. It was crowded, loud and the food left much to be desired. You Gotta Go! – The first time I went to Sonoma our group was seated outside the restaurant in a romantic atmosphere (with white lights surrounding the table). Our group consisted of 7 people, ages ranging from 20 to 65. The service was excellent along with the varitey of food. Stay Away!! – By far one of the worst dining experiences in near memory! Everything was a complete disappointment. Our waitress, the food, and the prices. The asian beef salad I ordered had very little beef in it, substituted angel hair pasta for what was advertised as "vermicelli", and was drowned in very oily dressing. It took more than a half hour to get any food, and the waitress's continous promises that it "would be out in two minutes, promise" were clearly based on nothing other than her own wishful thinking.
