Best seafood in NOLA!!! Sit at the bar and get BBQ shrimp - "liquid gold"!
Unfortunately on our first night in NOLA we were told by the valet at our hotel that Deanie's was the place to go. My family (which includes a child and a teenager) were turned away due to my children having tank tops on. We were given the option to buy a Deanie's t-shirt for 35$ each so we could stay. I politely declined and we had a wonderful meal at the Acme Oyster House.
This is my third time eating at Deanie's when I come to NOLA,...each time it has been impeccable. Other 2 times in 2010, was with a group, this time I'm alone. Was treated very special, LaKeia was very attentive, accomodating and polite. They served me very quickly and the complimentary spicy potatoes, yeah! The manager came over and thank me for coming in. Definite recommendation...my wait was only 15 minutes during dinner time.
Things have changed since I used to visit during undergrad. How so? I noticed multiple posts via social media of the "feast" not being served in a huge bread bowl shaped like half a ship or football stadium. Yet, last night was underwhelming to say the least. I'm figuring less and less locals are writing these reviews and as a result everyone else is flabbergasted with the portions or the offerings but things used to taste and present far better. This is the second year and second time my boyfriend and I have eaten here. Last year the food, drink and waitstaff were excellent. Went back today and sat at the bar. The bartender was not friendly. We ordered our bloody marys expecting them in a large glass. When he delivered them in a smaller glass and we asked, he seemed bothered to make then a double. The management and owners were VERY, VERY disrespectful and unprofessional. I don't know how they managed to stay in business this long treating their customers (whom are supposed to come first!) in such an awful manner! Would NOT recommend to any friends, family, OR ANYONE!!! Overall experience was HORRIBLE!! Service was terrible! Food is no better than a gas station's food!! Don't waste your time or money!!!
They had us seated within 10 minutes and the food was absolutely amazing! Fresh, prompt, and that BBQ sauce on the BBQ Shrimp is one of the best sauces I've ever had! Will be going back next time I visit NO. And it was recommended by a local I met who was helping us with our bags! Will be going back!!!
Started out with Bucktown Punch Delish! Then yummy Barb-B-Que Shrimp. I could have licked the bowl. lol. But ... The entree.... The Giant Seafood Platter.... I will never ever eat here again my girlfriends and I went here Easter weekend the wait for table was 1hr and 45 minutes but that wasn't the bad part we expected a long wait since it was 5 of us...
