As a Gastroenterologist with an additional two-year fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease from UNC at Chapel Hill, an internationally recognized Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center of Excellence, I strive to compassionately increase and modernize the quality of care for all my patients. Complementing this scholarly approach, I practice a style of medicine rooted in old-school tradition, where medical care begins with listening to the patient and building a strong doctor-patient relationship.

Dr, Grunkemeier is a very personable doctor, he is easy to talk with and has answers to all of my questions. When my former doctor retired I was given as a patient to Dr. Grunkemeier and I am sincerely grateful for my former doctor making that choice.
Very down to earth personality. A sense of humor but very straight forward and knowledgable. I found Dr Grunkemeier easy to talk to he listened to me.
I have had Ulcerative Colitis for 50 years have been to several Dr. for treatment and Dr Grunkermeier has given me the best care of all of them. So grateful for him.
Outstanding in every way. Staff was courteous, helpful and made overall experience seamless. While not the most fun thing to do in general, they made it super easy.
Dr. Grunkemeier is possibly the most caring doctor I have ever worked with. He is extremely knowledgeable and also ways knows my history. He listens closely and answers questions fully. He's really is a blessing to the "senior" population. Dr. G worked so hard to save my husband who was bleeding internally last Spring. COVID care was keeping my husband from getting the tests and procedures he needed to stop the bleed. Dr. G did not quit until he got my husband the care he needed. He saved his life!
I chose Dr. Grunkemier after observing him following my wife's two medical procedures. He has excellent "bed-side" manner & seems to be very knowledgeable in his Specialty and general medicine. At our first (virtual) meeting, after reviewing my past and present medical problems, I felt very comfortable with his diagnosis and recomeded treatment /procedures.
Absolutely the most thorough doctor I’ve ever met, when I called with stomach pain he went above and beyond with imaging and blood work without question. Wouldn’t trust any other he’s the best!
After meeting with Dr. Grunkemeier, I left wishing I could have given him a hug instead of an elbow bump. He was very compassionate and thorough when answering my questions and discussing my situation. I left feeling well taken care of by him.
Started feeling better right away after I started the medicine, in fact I feel better than I have in a long time, I will be leaving for Alaska on the 15th and am wondering if I should have another prescription to take along just In case I have problems up there. We were all very impressed with the doctor and want to say thank you. Calvin Emmert
