Dr Barba was very clear in presenting the possible alternatives to deal with my intense pain (6-10) and expected outcomes and expected time for additional surgeries to be needed. He also shared a more permanent surgery and the long term recovery, about 1 year, with the needed hard work on my part as well as the expected outcome for decades after.
Dr. Owsley is an excellent surgeon. He did my knee replacement in September of 2024. He answered questions and made sure he understood my life style and how much I walked for exercise. Very organized. Personable. The only thing I can fault him for is that I felt he didn't understand how much pain I was experiencing after surgery. My situation was a little different than that of others and I know docs now days have to be careful with pain meds but I thought he could have done a better job of addressing my pain. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Barba and the outstanding care I received. From the first consultation to post-surgery follow-ups, he was nothing short of amazing. Dr. Barb is great and very conservative. He wont' do surgery unless he thinks he need and will beneficial. The issue is the office is horrible. I had issue with getting an MRI for months. I got many times and no one call me back. It is just horrible patient service.

Dr. Barba is my orthopedic spine surgeon. From my very first visit he has shown me exceptional professionalism. I am 72 years old and was in need of some serious help for a lower lumbar spine issue. Dr. Barba recommended a lower lumbar spine surgery for me and I consented. I cannot express how glad I am I agreed to the procedure. I have been extremely happy with the results and would recommend Dr. Barba to anyone who needs a capable competent spine surgeon.
This was my 1 year visit for a lower back fusion surgery. I must say I’m very pleased with Dr Barba, the Palomar health group team and Palomar hospital! My back was so bad that I was stuck laying on my couch taking pain killers every two hours since by back fusion last October my condition has had over a 90% improvement . So glad I went with Dr Barba!
