Da Mimmo Italian Restaurant

4.2

About this business

This exuberant Italian restaurant is big and usually packed. But its soft colors are lit so perfectly that when you are sitting at one of the candle-lit tables, it seems intimate. The food is classic. Try the Seafood Ravioli in lobster cream sauce or the Veal Tenderloin. And if you have a favorite Italian specialty, call ahead and the chef will prepare it for you. The owners will even send a limo to pick you up at your downtown hotel.

I have been a fan of Da Mimmo for quite a long time. I enjoyed the Veal Chop I've had it before and ordered it again this visit and was not disappointed. The wine list is very detailed and the service is old school with class.

one of the most unpleasant experiences – aside from a well chilled martini there is little else i can say that is positive. i returned to this restaurant after several years because i remeber the friendly atmosphere, the tasty dishes. what an unpleasant surprise to find a rude hostess and a waiter that is beyond description. suffice it to say that he was a caracature of haughtiness, arrogance and air of self importance. if the food wasnt such an expensive disappointment i would find these two people almost comical. my guess ... read more

Way Over Priced – Had friends in from Ohio and wanted to try a different restaurant in Little Italy. Missed this review site. Food was way over priced!!!! Quality was average at best, and the service… well momma always said “if you don’t have anything good to say..don’t say it” Skip this place.. do yourself a favor.

Got sick from the fish – We were visiting from New York and the place seemed nice but the bathrooms were dirty and there were crumbs all over the floor. I had fish and have been sick ever since I ate there on Friday

Not to happy – Went down this last week and was very disappointed. Our server acted like he did not want to wait on us. The food was mediocre at best. The food is highly overpriced as well. After dinner we went to Vaccaros for dessert and the locals on the corner told us that the owner was Polish and the chef was Iranian! Where are the Italians? Maybe we are just too young but I did not know anybody in there celebrity photos. We shall not return.

Tourist Trap! – Firstly, if the faded pictures on the bar walls are to be believed, there hasn't been a celebrity in this place in 20 years. Secondly, it would appear that the snotty manager Masood is now the executive chef. The menu hasn't evolved in any way since Mimmo died, the food is still overpriced and overcooked, and they still fail to tell you that the "specials" like the lobster tetrazini and that huge veal chop are $55+ entrees. The limo only picks up guests from the hotels, probably due to the fact that the local... read more

I have dined at Da Mimmo's many times when I lived in MD. Last week my family and were passing thru MD and decided to stop for dinner. Our waiter was rude from the start. When my wife asked for a glass of wine my the glass it could not be done ( even though they have abar down stairs). We then orderd the salads from the specials. Four salads at a cost of $60.00. Mine you they did not have a shrimp or meat on them. Just a small salad. The entrees were completely average. Did you ever walk out of a restaurant and just feel tot... read more

Don't expect exceptional service – My family and I went to Da Mimmo's believing that the food would be authentic and excellent. However, upon arrival, the waiter seemed less than thrilled to be catering to us and was more infatuated with pouring the bottle of San Pellegrino for the Italians next to us. When asked if he would be bringing bread, he grunted that they had run out for the day, meanwhile the people next to us got a loaf as we were speaking. The waiter later returned with a basket of bread, noting that he "had to p... read more
