This inn, partly owned by Carmel resident and luminary Doris Day, is a local landmark. Its famous Mediterranean exterior and roof of red tile has landed it in many guidebooks. Inside, you'll find bright skylights, a spacious lobby, a library bar and a gorgeous fireplace. The rooms are luxurious, featuring a color scheme of whites, creams and yellows. The balconies offer incredible views of the beach that is within walking distance. It's a perfect combo of country comfort and city luxury.

Amazing little place. Ask for Mary as she is a 21 year vet behind the bar serving up all kinds of great things!! Dog friendly and people friendly too!!
We ate here after we heard Doris died, and it was bad, one waiter waiting on the entire restaurant, inside and out, and yes the service was bad but not his fault. They had two hostess and neither one would help this guy. I ordered Prawns and Linguine, the linguine had no flavor at all, felt it just came out of the water to the plate, and same for the prawns, very disappointed, I wanted to like it because we like to have cocktails there.
Cypress and is by far the best hotel in Carmel by the sea owned by Denny Lovette and his beautiful wife one my best friends Jean — it’s family owned with family love and the friendliest doggie hotel And Debbie Davis performs there on Saturdays who is me of the best singer performer in the world hands down
All class ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Warm & convivial
As a fan of Doris Day it is the place to be when you are in Carmel by the sea
Lovely small hotel in the middle of Carmel. The bar/restaurant is very good and s great place for people and pet watching.
Today I’m sad to hear Doris Day gas passed at the age of 97 years. Her life was glorious in many ways but I’ll never forget her animal awareness and staying at her pet friendly Cypress Inn while traveling the PCH years ago in Carmel. A quaint and romatic inn with fireplaces in each bungalow and a common living room area with character galore. I took daily walks thru the adjacent neighborhoods and met some locely people I have never forgotten. RIP Doris Day!
Stopped to have cocktails in Terry’s Lounge. Bartender Carlos was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.
Had a lovely meal on the patio. Lots of puppies along with their humans to socialize with while enjoying a delicious meal. 😊
