In 1984 Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craigs parents George and Ruth, opened the very first Culvers in the familys beloved hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin. In a sense it was destiny. The son of a cheesemaker and grandson of a Wisconsin farmer, George Culver spent the early part of his career inspecting and grading dairy farms for the Wisconsin Dairies Cooperative. Was pretty good, but it seemed like it lacked the authentic "Wisconsin Taste".

The management and staff are awesome! Of course the food is as well.My coworkers and I went in for $2 curd day and the owner gave us a "Curd Nerd" hat and several stuffed cheese curds. Really made our day!
