The Daily Nonpareil was established in 1857 by 24-year-old William Wirt Maynard of Michigan. Maynard, a journeyman printer, had been commissioned by the newly formed Republican Party to start a paper in what was then the Democratic-Whig stronghold of Council Bluffs. The daily newspaper provides local and national news, entertainment, sports, classifieds and business news to southwestern Iowa. The Daily Nonpareil maintains offices in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Was really disappointed that you asked for people to submit people for the Honor your Veteran that was to be in the special insert in Sunday’s paper. I submitted one and it only appeared online. Not in the special section, and there where a number of others that you omitted too! Guess they had to be “someone special” to appear in print. What a slap in the face to ALL the veteran’s that you didn’t put in your special section. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought their veterans bio would appear and they were not! Just an overall good read!
I lived in Council Bluffs Iowa when I was a child. My parents moved to Orange County Ca. My mother always kept getting the Daily Nonpareil newspapers sand still does today.
