Yesterday I went through Sam’s Car Wash Express in Newport, SC, and their wash system ripped the bug deflector off the front of my truck. The on-site staff were kind and professional, but that’s where the good experience ended. I got a call today from someone named Ansley (or Ainsley — hard to tell), and she informed me they’re denying my claim because my truck is a 2013. This is a warning for others! Let me preface this by saying: I didn’t just get my car washed—I survived an ordeal. This place should come with a warning label and a waiver. First, the staff looked confused when I pulled in. Not busy—confused, like they’d never seen a car before. After a 20-minute wait surrounded by honking chaos, waved me into the wash tunnel like he was guiding a plane. I should’ve driven away then. Inside, it got worse. Still satisfied overall, but have become increasingly concerned with amenities being discontinued. E.G. no coffee, no spray bottles. And, of course, the cost of membership keeps rising. Also, the drying portion of the wash is very inconsistent.
I was successfully refunded for a year of membership that I didn't use. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because I think it should be more difficult to accidentally sign up for a membership, or it should force you to enter in an email that automatically sends you invoices for each payment. This will prevent people from being mysteriously charged for unused months. The customer service was great.
