Has been a great experience for me and my kiddo thus far. I'm so thankful for the help my family recieves here.
Not lgbtq+ friendly. Few actually licensed therapists & no psychiatrist on staff. Connected to cornerstone church in Ames so they counsel what they preach, which is in direct conflict with best practices from the APA. Ask about the code of ethics their “counselors” must follow! Unless you want your therapy with a side of Christian guilt. 🥴
My experience with Cornerstone may not be the norm, but nonetheless I wish to make it known. The counseling staff I’ve had no issues with, and Dr. Jacobs who was my counselor, is an excellent person to work with. However, Cornerstone failed to communicate to me that my insurance was not covering my virtual sessions. Now, while my insurance is also to blame in my scenario, Cornerstone continued charging me for sessions for 4 months, all on my deductible without my knowledge, and now has left me with a bill of $600.
