I signed an annual personal training contract with LA Fitness on 6/8/2019. I started having hip issues in December so I couldn't schedule any sessions. I spoke to another trainer and to the person I signed the contract with. They assured me that I could schedule all sessions not used when I got better. I ended up having a hip replacement in March, at the same time that Covid19 hit. I continued with my monthly payments, feeling confident that I would be able to use all of my unused sessions once I rehabbed with my physical th... read more

Refused to help at-risk COVID patients in reimbursing unused membership. Spent more than half an hour arguing with my husband on the phone after they charged a $50 annual fee RIGHT AFTER he told them he could not come in to use the facilities and they had assured him he would only be charged a $10/month holding fee. This place definitely feels like a total scam, and at the very least has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

In creating a business model for modern gyms and in providing an experience to customers, LA Fitness has largely failed, and consumer advocates should have LA Fitness directly on their radar. I hope that individual consumer advocates and also organizations like the Better Business Bureau will look into LA Fitness and find ways to get them to improve. For one, just being in the gyms themselves can be a frustrating experience. Broken weight machines sometimes go unfixed for months (and in the case of one particular deltoid mac... read more

Froze my membership and was told in writing (via email) that I would not be charged for the month of June once the club opened. Was charged anyways for the pro-rated rate and the freeze rate. Have sent multiple emails to customer service with no response, have tried calling and been left on hold for hours. Horrendous service.

Well I have always enjoyed my experience going to the gym and the child care at my regular location. That’s not where the issue lies. The issues is that I am moving out of state, to an area that doesn’t have an LA Fitness. I have tried contacting the company NUMEROUS times via phone and email. I have sent nearly 6 follow up emails to get my membership canceled. I have been on hold for an hour wait to talk to customer service. Nothing. Nothing is happening. This is ridiculous!! They are refusing to cancel my membership, this ... read more

Very disappointed in their customer service. I canceled my membership in January 2020 after several very frustrating mishaps within their mobile application and incompetence at their front desk to be able to fix it. This was perfectly fine with me as like many, I thought I would use the membership more than I actually did. What really infuriates me however was the fact that when they reopened in June 2020, after being closed due to quarantine, they charged my account for my monthly membership that I had canceled at the begin... read more

This place should be shut down. I have been using the gym for over a year with an additional personal training membership. For the past 10 months, I have been having difficulty getting personal training appointments - the trainer had been booked at the times that I am available (off work). After the COVID crisis began, the gym continued to charge me for personal training even when the gym was closed. After reopening, the opening hours are later than I am able to go due to being at work. I finally decided to cancel my persona... read more

TO: BBB I believe it is only fair that LA Fitness give its customers the courtesy with the option to return to LA Fitness once we feel (comfortable enough) to return after COVID. Just because they feel they prepared, maybe we do not feel they have. it should not be the sole choice by this fitness club to start charging us when we are not ready to return. They should allow us to make that choice, and I feel like I was ripped off. .... This is totally unfair and unjust. And I will be seeking the reimbursement for the month of ... read more
