It was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. We had the braised lamb heart and duck liver pate for appetizers and the quail for main. All were excellent and sevice was perfect. Can't wait to visit again.
Our dinner was just wonderful. Our waitress Sierra was great. I had the Pork Osso Bucco with rice grit risotto and Bill had the Shrimp and Grits. We decided to walk the square looking for some dessert but came right back to City Grocery for a poached pear dessert and a piece of wonderful chocolate cake !!
Wonderful food and service!! We drove from Tupelo to eat there because we heard of your great food and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back !!
The food was delicious, after we finally got it. The environment not so much, cramped, rocky tables, people weaving their way through bumping and knocking into your table and chairs. We had an 8:00 reservation and did not get seated until 8:20. Then we sat at our table another 20 minutes guessing who our server would be. We had to stop an employee who said they would find out but never returned. We had to ask for bread and refills. Great food but disappointing experience.
Had the ham melt. And the bean with ham soup. It was awesome.
Unusual southern classics...all well prepared and gracious service...a real unexpected treat...I recommend if you are in Oxford don't miss it.
