Style over Substance – I was underwhelmed by this restaurant. Very crowded, full of people ready to be seen. Drinks were very good, food was just average, there are many places I would go back to first. I'd go back if others I was with really wanted to go, but it wasn't my scene.
Why? – Why would you go here, other than once to try it? Ok, deep breath. First of all this place is LOUD. Not fun, lively, buzzing loud, but howler monkey in your ear loud. Inside it's dark and elbow to elbow crowded with hipsters posing for each other. The waitstaff are snobby and inattentive. Additional Charge for Ice in Margarita!! – While the food, service and decor were all very good, the spoiler had to do with the fact that my girlfriend was charged $.50 for getting ice in her Margarita. She wasn't even told about this charge when she ordered the drink. According to the server, this additional charge covers an additional shot that's required because of ice being added. Very unique! I have to say this is one of the most unique restaurants I have ever visited. Its a great place to go for a date since the lights are dimmed and the atmosphere is romantic. Last time I was there I ordered fried scorpions as an appetizer because I thought it was a joke. Imagine my horror when the waiter brought a plate of them! My boyfiend thought we should eat them so that we don't waste food.... They're pretty crunchy!
OOH La La Cha Cha Cha This is a place to meet and greet... sit at the congregation table among strangers soon to be friends. Sip a signature coctail like the Kama Sutra Mama, complete with an umbrella! Go for the Jerk Chicken for added spice in this glitzy crowded haunt. One entree feeds three to four appetites, so consider ordering family style. And, when you're looking for late night fare, stop by Chino for a bite and the party continues. Fun people watching at any time.
Better than I expected!! – I was happily surprised with my first experience at Chino. It was indeed crowded, but we were seated quickly since we had a reservation. Everyone from the hostesses to the waitstaff were very friendly. The menu isn't pricey when you consider 4 people can eat from one entree. Our bill ended up being about $30 per person. That included several drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 deserts. I definitely will go there again, but only with a reservation. Also, valet park!!
I Like It – Still going strong after what ... 5 years? A good place to get together with a group. The menu is creative (I've tried most everything and it's all pretty solid) and the service is average to above average. Fun cocktails make it a nice place to take a date. It does get loud, so don't go if you're looking for a nice quiet dinner.
Give it a chance – Sure it's a stand & model bar with upscale prices and a little flair but I if you're looking for a little noisy fun, a few drinks and some really good food with a group of friends, give this a try. It's really alot more fun than the other reviews on this site might lead on and the waitstaff is amazingly friendly.
keepin it real – Anyone who has ever eaten jerk chicken on the streets of Negril can spot this imposter a mile away. The waitstaff is fairly polite, but the host staff and management are far to dazzled by their own elegance. Its a status joint..thats all.
