Best hospital for children. The doctors, nurses and therapists were excellent. No wait time at all. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating during our during our stay. My child wanted to stay there after he was discharged. I could go on and on about it. Just know your child will be in good hands.
I brought my daughter Caleigh to Children s on a Saturday at 1PM. Our wait time in the main area was 5 Min. The wait time once we got to an assigned room was 30 min. My daughter was complaining of her neck hurting, throwing up and she had a low grade fever. The FEMALE doctor came in and I explained her symptoms and also let her know we had been in a car accident 9 days earlier...immediately the doctor said well, your daughter has a virus...we need a urine sample...she looked at her ears, and throat...no redness..but she was ... read more

This is the place to be if you have a sick child. The staff is so wonderful and kind and inviting and caring. Children s of Alabama at birmingham deserves some kind of award. The staff deserves much more they are always there to make your needs above anything else. I have never been so comfortable about the care of my children medically than with this staff. Please someone do something awesome for this staff especially 5NW!!!
I have used Children s er for all three of my kids but mostly for my 8 1/2 year old son. When he was born he had multiple problems and he had to see three different specialists at Children s. So for 8 1/2 years he has been a frequent patient there and we have been treated beyond excellent! He s had several surgeries and has about six appts there yearly and I have never seen it in disarray, maybe under cosmetic reconstruction, but never nasty. I love the staff there and would recommend anyone to go there.
I have had nothing but bad expieriences with Children s and the ER. When my oldest daughter was younger, about 6 months old, she had breathing issues and everytime I took her to the ER all they did was give her a breathing treatment and send her home, without doing an x-ray or blood work to rule out pnumonia or something else. When she was admitted for the breathing issues they didnt do anything but a sweat test to see if she had cf. Now with my youngest daughter I called after hours lastnight and they told me they would ref... read more
Very poor pain management. Semt is.home with no prescription pain meds after brain surgery. Had to beg to get Lortabs for my dd. Told us to call her regular dr. Very dissatisfied and yet these are supposed to be some of the best surgeons in the southeast.
This hospital is the most unfriendly and uncaring hospital I have I been to, they make life difficult. The staff is overburdened and it is mismanaged. The have good doctors but they don t care about your kids and the nurses are the bottom of the barrel for the most part but they are exceptions. But if you live in alabama you have no choice but to take your kids to this mismanaged hellhole
Honestly 2011 my daughter was admitted she s a ftt child. She was seen by GI. They made the decision to do a g-tube as well as a fundo. Well at the time my husband was active duty in the military so we had to go back to our station. The GI doctor didn t like that so he filed a report with DHR saying we medically were neglecting our daughter. After all the non-sense and being followed by DHR and going to a different hospital we found out that she didn t need her g-tube that she has a genetic disorder! Well DHR dropped their c... read more
