My family and I would like to say Thank You to Children Mercy Hospital for the wonderful support you have given us in the past 20 years, especially Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Rajan (Gowdamarajan). After a couple of open heart surgeries under the age of two, Avery has grown up to be a healthy young man. Now, at the age of 20, he's leaving CMH, but with great memories. Children's mercy has been a wonderful place for my daughter to receive her care! After finding out that my daughter had heterotaxy syndrome along with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome and other CHD's, we delivered Emma at children's mercy in the fetal health center. She had her first open heart surgery at 10 days old with Dr. Pastuszko and then had her second open heart surgery a month ago with him as well. Hands down the BEST hospital. The care that my daughter received was incredible. From the volunteers, care assistants, nurses and doctors, EVERYONE was friendly, caring and fabulous. We drove nearly 4 hours to the hospital. Dr. Hendrickson (general surgeon), purple team and liver team explained things in detail so that not only we would understand but our daughter would too. They took the time to answer all the concerns and questions we had. I cannot say enough GREAT things about this hospital! Thank YOU Children's Mercy!
My son has leukemia, he is only 4. The other night he found out he was getting admitted and he began crying because he had no stuffed animal to sleep with. Little did I know the er doctors called up to the floor, and told them how sad he was. Gabriel was greeted at his room with a surprise stuffed monkey! I can't tell you how much that touched my baby, and me. Thank you CMH.
I've been going here since I was 3 for a rare genetic disorder and now my son comes here as well and the care is absolutely the best I could as for. Grateful for these doctors and nurses.
I had two scopes and it was so relaxing and I love my nurses and doctors and the guy who made me fall asleep!
I wish we could go to another hospital. Don't expect eye contact. Don't expect to feel like you are being talked to. You will be talked down to, patronized and ignored. I'm not impressed. I think they are currently riding on the coat tails of the reputation from previous years. Never met a more pompous bunch of experts. Office staff- nice people. POLITE people. Lab techs-Wonderful. Nurses.....it is a 50/50 chance on what you will get. Doctors.....they need to learn how to treat people like people, and quit thinking of golf.
