We had an amazing evening recently . my husband and I had travelled from Pembroke, MA to visit friends on Emerald Isle. Our one request was dinner at Chef & the Farmer. I went here for my birthday a few weeks ago and it was delish !! The Flash fried collards are amazing !!!! The Yard bird amazing as well! The whole atmosphere was just remarkable! I will be coming back ! Such a quaint spot in Kinston.

We arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation time and were seated immediately. Our table had the fried collards, daily bread, ribeye, pork loin, catch of the day (swordfish) & shrimp & grits. We also got a flight of four, which was 4 desserts. All of the dishes were amazing, the pairing of the dishes were so unique and worked so well together. We were very impressed. The service was outstanding, our waiter was prompt, friendly and had a great knowledge of the menu. It was everything we had anticipated and more.

Loved most everything about the experience...from the food to wait staff. A female bartender glaringly stood out after repeatedly ignoring us and helping 2 other people who came well after us... a little frustrating! The fried collards were terribly greasy and basically tasted like ...grease! The pork was absolutely one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth!! Followed closely by the fish infused with and Asian flavor. Some of the best food I've had the pleasure of eating!!
