I dine at Char every time I visit Cookeville and have never been disappointed! The steak and salmon are always cooked to perfection. A good selection of drinks as well. The service has always been timely and friendly. Looking forward to my next visit.
Wednesday night mic night is where it's at!!!! Last night had smoked wings. Great food and service!!!

Service was prompt and friendly...food was delicious! I ordered the Cajun pasta with chicken, and the sauce was tasty, chicken was tender and the pasta done just right! The bar was crowded but they were quick to serve me with a smile. Their Friday night entertainment is great ~ love The Smoky Nights band!
Ok people I know it's small town Cookeville. My cousin was visiting from San Diego and is originally from here. We saw a play and wanted a meal but it was after 10pm. We found out Char had a late night menu of appetizers and opted for that and some live music. My husband and I have been here before and always enjoyed our food. Piss poor service tonight. Sat outside. Another party was seated about 5 minutes after us. Two waitresses took their orders and didn't even come over to our table. Mind you, there was one other table on the patio so it wasn't like it was slammed. Shameful.
The amount of time it took to get our food is why I rated it only three stars. The food was great, but lunch service shouldn't take 40 minutes to get your food. Also, my fries didn't come out until I finished my burger. She did comp those though. The burgers were great.
