History Established in 1794. The land, now known as Scenery Hill, was first surveyed in 1785 by Isaac Bush and was given the name Springtown. Later, George Hill purchased the land and conveyed it to his son Stephen Hill in which the town was renamed Hillsboro until April 10th, 1867. It is believed that George Hill began construction of the Inn in 1788 and his son, Stephen, finished it in 1794. The stone used to build the Inn was quarried from the surrounding area. Had our first visit to Century Inn this evening for dinner. All of the dining rooms, bar, and the suites upstairs were all gorgeous. Dinner service was fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better experience. Every item we had from the menu was excellent. Our group ordered peanut soup, soup of the day (beef barley), mushroom strudel, roasted venison loin, and ribeye steak. While every dish was wonderful, the Mushroom strudel was phenomenal and the best of all the dishes. We plan on coming back again, and hopefully spending the night... read more
Beautiful job with the restoration. Accommodating to wheelchair bound guest. Very friendly and we enjoyed our lunch immensely. The peach tart was out of this world 🤗❤️
Fabulous food; great historic building; elegant, comfortable well appointed lodging; and ownership and staff who make you feel welcome and at home. The Century in is a must see, must dine and must stay historic inn on the National Road!
