A five minute " walk around the corner ; " friendly , hospitable staff , powerful margaritas ( love those Cadillac strawberry creations ) , fine food ( especially carnitas , chicken mole , and the occasional lamb in pumpkin - seed sauce special ) . Front porch particularly lovely , at lunch or dinner ) .

In the middle of a sweltering summer back east, we sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the cool breezes as the sun set. Two margaritas and a chimichanga later, I was very happy. We treated our friend from Japan to Mexican food on his first night in LA, since he says it is next to impossible to find Mexican restaurants in Tokyo. The great atmosphere and friendly wait staff made it a night to remember. I'd love to get here more often. A trip across town is worth it for this kind of experience.
