Like no other – You can't get flavors like this anywhere else in Philly....my personal favorite is the Mexican Chocolate...with a kick (chili pepper!)....you can ask for 2 different flavors in one cup...with ever changing flavors, the combinations are endless!
Unique Flavors – You won't find these flavors in your average freezer section! Capogiro serves amazing mixes of herbs and fruits in their creamiest incarnation: the gelato. Lemon basil and pineapple? Rosemary and goatmilk? Sure! And you'll be shocked at how good these are. However, if you prefer tamer flavors...their chocolate will knock your socks off too.
Delicious but $$ – I guess it is not so bad if you feel like dishing out $6 for a small cup...seriously...it's that much to eat the gelato. I've been there a few times and you do walk out there with an empty wallet. Expect to hand over a 10 dollar bill for you and your date.
oh baby – capogiro has changed my life. i love it. it's amazing. it's making me fat. what else can i say? the best, the best, simply the best. oooh, i'm getting hungry!
lousy customer service – The one on 20th street is closer to my apartment, and I was excited when it opened. I've been in a few times. The gelato is good, but the people behind the counter leave you with a bad taste. They roll their eyes, rush you to make up your mind, and are generally unpleasant. They have major attitude. I'll stick with Scoop de Ville. The lines may be longer, but the people behind the counter are helpful and friendly.
Euro-desserts and snacks on a spiffed-up stretch of 13th Street. – In Short Wood floors and modern decor constructed from blue blown-glass bottle lamps and cool, curvy glass display cases, make this Italian-style gelateria a hangout for Europeans and wannabes. It's a bright spot on a street that's gradually being brought back to life. The use of fresh, local ingredients make the unusual flavors shine, although the cost (close to $5 for a small size) may give you pause.
Awesome!! – Best gelato I've ever had ... they always have new flavors whenever I walk in, the service is friendly, and the gelato is light, fresh and delicious.
I'm in the minority here... – I know that Capogiro has received rave reviews from everyone and all of the critics but haven eaten there at least five times I find their gelato unimpressive. While I have not tried any of the more unusual flavors, their chocolate and hazelnut varieties were only fair while the torrone was not worth trying again, especially when compared to the other places I've had gelato.
Gelato in Italy isn't this good – Hands down the best gelato I have ever, ever tasted. I've had my share of artisanal gelato in Italy and it doesn't even begin to touch the gleato at capogiro. I took a group of customers to Sotto Varelli for dinner and suggested that instead of dessert, we could just stop at Capogiro on the way back to the hotel. The quick thinking waitress told us that Sotto served Capogiro gelato so we stayed and had three scoops each at Sotto. The gelato was so good that we still stopped at capogiro on th... read more
