I brought my dad into the emergency department just after 6.30 pm, on 4th March 2026 with blood loss. He is 90 years old and receiving cancer treatment. After 3.5 hours I went up to the triage nurse that booked us in and said my dad was struggling. She said the hospital was full and nothing she could do. There were other patients also struggling, one with severe stomach pains. I’m sitting in the Calvary Hospital’s waiting room for the ER department - and was astounded to see how the triage system worked . An elderly gentleman has been brought to the triage window in a wheel chair and he is seemingly hard of hearing. So, instead of the triage officer getting out from behind the triage glass window for better communication with the man, she continued to fire specific questions at the patient - all of which were literally shouted at the man, who was struggling with the conversation. Okay visit here for a specialist appointment. Able to park across the road and find my way easily to where I needed to go
