I don't get it. – What is the deal with this place? It isn't even good. No flavor in anything. I have eaten there probably 4-5 times. Each time I say, "maybe this time will be different." But it is always the same. Very generic food. I prefer Red Iguana or Cancun Cafe to this place.

Come on, your loosing your edge – I just went to the Cafe Rio on 33rd So in Salt Lake City. I order the barbacoa barrito. All Beans and rice. The gal that took my order Put very little pork in and then took half out. I eaten there several times but this was horrible. I think your getting a little to big for your own good and you need to hire hispanics that like gringos. I won't gop back.

I first tried this place back in 2005, when former co-workers were raving about the food and the flavor. I should have known better. In that first trip, I went for one of the burrito plates and asked that they smother it in the hottest sauce they had. That was when I started calling this place "Cafe Bland" and referring to their cuisine as "European Mexican." I Always Do Takeout – I rarely go to Cafe Rio to sit and eat. Life is just too busy for me. I like being able to call ahead for my take out and have it ready when I get there and know that the quality of the food is worth the money. This is where Cafe Rio works for me. The portions are huge and you have a variety of choices. I like the Barbacoa Salad with the house dressing. Its usually too much to eat at one time so I finish it off as a late night snack.

Shrimp tacos I decided to try to the coconut shrimp tacos the other day for the daily special. Wow! Although they were super messy to eay, I really liked them.

Excellent Food – Very tasty food and I sometimes crave it. Only complaint is the long lines near noon. Ordering online helps.

Wheres the flavor?? – My wife and I went there to eat lunch for the first time, and we were both pretty disappointed. We both ordered the chicken enselada special, and we both came across as the food was lacking flavor. The enselada, rice, was very bland. For what we paid for, I was still very hungry afterwards. This is a restaurant that seems to be an "american - mexican" style food, lacking some authentic style mexican food, which is fine if thats what you are looking for, but my wife who is mexican, is a much better cook ... read more

I LOVE CAFE RIO! – The food is great. They give big portions for the price you pay. The salads and the burritos are the best! Some weeks I eat at Cafe Rio two days in a row because the flavor of the House Dressing is addicting. It is my favorite restaurant. The service is fast and friendly. There is one guy at the Provo Cafe Rio that remembers my husband and I every time we go and is extra nice to us. Even if the line is long, it is worth the wait, plus it moves fast.
