Only a few decades ago, it was expected that senior citizens would eventually lose their teeth and need dentures. That’s no longer the case. Adults older than 60 just need to make sure they see their dentist regularly and maintain healthy dental habits.

Dentures may feel uncomfortable at first. There may be an increase in saliva, which is normal. Once your oral tissues and facial muscles adapt, your dentures should feel very comfortable. This may take one week or even more.

Did you know that proper hygiene isn't enough to keep teeth and gums healthy? Your nutritional intake also plays a part. Eating leafy greens for instance, along with, dairy products, vegetables and even mushrooms can greatly enhance your oral health.

While juice is considered healthy for both adults and kids, consumption should still be limited because it contains sugars. It’s important to restrict their intake to no more than 4 ounces a day of 100% fruit juice.

Smiling is easier than frowning. Do you know how? While it takes 43 muscles to frown, only 17 muscles are involved in smiling. So, keep smiling always!

Unless you will be receiving general anesthesia, the sedation medicine you will be prescribed slows your central nervous system, relaxing you and reducing pain, yet allowing you to be aware of your surroundings and what is being done.

Avoid chewing on ice or sticky foods like toffee, especially if you have fillings. These types of food can weaken teeth and remove old fillings.

What is bonding? In the dental field, this refers to the process of repairing teeth using composite resin. In this procedure, a dentist will mix and blend this resin to match the tooth to be repaired. He or she will then apply it and cure it with a UV light before contouring and polishing it.

Are you aware of the amazing benefits of the apple? Apples are actually a natural remedy to bad breath. Apples have plenty of pectin, which controls food odors. In addition, apples cause the body to produce more saliva, and more salvia usually helps to control the bacteria that lead to bad breath.
