Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Indiana's largest park is a traditional fall color hot spot, with nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads and many scenic vistas overlooking miles of unin... read more

I live this place! What a great asset for our State. So much to do there and one of the top mountain biking sites in the country. So beautiful all year round.
Very nice trails for hiking through out the seasons. A lot of people come here (far from crowded though) so it feels safe. They also got a fire-watch tower you can climb to the top of the stairs (but you cannot enter the watch room).
We had a great time. We hiked trail 9 for 1.5 miles. The weather on November 18th was 75°, could not have asked for better weather. The trail was great, clean and cleared. We went to the nature building and the gal that was working was so sweet, she told us so much info about the snakes and we had fun watching the turtles however their waterfall pump gave her a workout lol poor kid. Just the drive thru the park itself was beautiful, everything else offered was a bonus. Thank you for keeping America beautiful.
