Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Not a lot of good sights for larger campers, still a nice area with several things to do. Nashville is near by also the city of Columbus with all it's architecture and Brown Co park's nature center and the views and scenery are fantastic. They also have very nice Inn with water park. We'll be back.
Beautiful scenery, great hiking trails, nice camp sites, and tons to do.
My husband and I visit BCSP a couple times a week. We've hiked all the trails dozens of times, camped there and stayed at the Abe Martin Lodge many times. It's our favorite park. It's very clean, well maintained, there are always a lot of activities being offered and the staff are awesome. The new naturalist, Patrick, made our stay this week especially nice - he's a very knowledgeable, competent and compassionate caretaker of our favorite park. For decades, it's been worth the trip from Indy for us.
We have had our family reunion there the last few years and it is a great place for all ages!
It's a great place! Love the nature. Good lodging for families! Try a trail or two, check out the fire tower look outs. Nice gift shop.
