Bridgeport is dead to me (sorry about the length/spacing) – AMBIENCE-->As others have said, it's pretty much unrecognizable to anyone who knew and loved the old Bridgeport. Shiny hardwoods, white granite, modern fixtures, etc. Dining room on one side, more casual setup on the other side, which the hostess informed us "honors the spirit of the traditional pub" with long tables to encourage mingling, etc. I don't what this place is, but with white cloth napkins wrapped in lead holders, silverware nicer than anything in your ho... read more
Sad loss for Portland – Had to at least give it a try, and the food wasn't bad, and the beer is still the beer, but wow, what a major disappointment. The old place had so much great atmosphere, great beer, great pizza-by-the-slice. you name it. All that has been removed and replaced with an upscale cafeteria-like restaurant. A sad loss.
Good for groups – OK, I'm not a Bridgeport purist like many of the reviewers here, I'm an out-of-towner who enjoyed a fine group gathering upstairs here. Food was good, service was excellent and neighboorhood was cool to check out. Nothing awfully stellar here but no complaints either.
3 strikes and you're out! – Since reopening Ive been here three times. Each time Ive sat in a different area of the brewery. The first time was a few days after their grand opening. A friend and I went to happy hour upstairs at the bar. Our waiter, Bret J, was one of the snootiest waiters Ive ever encountered. He would pass by our table and not even acknowledge that we might want another beer or put in a food order. He acted as though we werent even there, turning up his nose as he walked by us. My next experience I sat in t... read more
Oregon's oldest craft brewery offers fine dining, a lively beer hall and on-site bakery in a popular Pearl District location. – In Short The circa-1888 building is a tapestry of earthy elements: brick walls, iron staircase, wood floors and massive wood support beams. Rooms, softly lit by oil lamps, are divided by soaring archways, opaque glass and interior windows. Smoked duck dumplings and allspice-scented lamb shanks are dishes from the dining room's seasonal menu. Soups, salads, sandwiches and hand-tossed pizzas are avail... read more
Dry Cow – My hamburger was so dry even though I specifically ordered my burger not to be dry. The food was boring and so was the ambience. The beer is always good even though they were out of the Porter on a Wednesday night. I will not go again. There are so many good places in Portland. This doesn't rate a second visit. The food gets 1 star, service gets 4 stars, ambience gets 2 stars, beer gets 4 stars, value is 2 stars.
Waitstaff Sucks – The happy hour food wasn't bad, but our moronic waiter made our experience there pretty unpleasant. We were into our second round of appetizers before we got our beer--and this was after I questioned him about its whereabouts. When we paid, we wanted to split the check and gave him 2 credit cards. He came back to us, holding both cards in his hands, and claimed we only gave him 1 card. We were dumbfounded at his idiocy; he was holding BOTH in his hands! After going back and forth, he finally realized he did... read more
Bummer! – Bridgeport changed for the worse! The 'upgrade' is dissapointing to say the least. They make decide WHAT you'll eat before they even seat you, so they can decide WHERE to seat you. Very un-cool. The first time my family and I tried to eat there, we were so put off by this that we left without even getting a table - something at least 3 other groups ahead of us in line did as well. Wierd business plan Bridgeport! I tried again and the food was pretty good, service was nice, but EXTREMELY slow. It's unfortunate, beca... read more
What Happened – Had a few friends meet, on a Friday night. We so loved the old place, relaxed, pizza/beer joint. We already have to many upscale bar / restaurants in town. Great idea adding private group space, Portland needs more of that. I don't have kids but a few friends commented, it's seriously not kid friendly anymore. Unfortunately, we left and didn't try the food. Can't comment there, the beer was good as always.
