The place was completely gutted in 2006 and was rebuilt again. The restaurant is famous for its wonderful oysters, seafood platter and shrimps. It takes pride in using the freshest ingredients and the catch of the day is always worth trying out. You can also book private parties at this venue.

One of my new favorite places! Loved everything about it! Food, atmosphere, just a cool and very casual place with fresh seafood.

Fresh seafood cooked to order,had the Big'ol seafood platter however the Whiting has bones in it be careful, crab cakes are so so! Had better one's at other locations in Charleston I think a few oysters should be added to the platter ( but that's just me ) all and all I enjoyed it nice view !
Bowen's is the best place we've ever eaten for fresh FRIED seafood! If you are looking for so called healthy choices this probably ain't the place. But for fried food and cold beer it can't be beaten!!

While vacationing on Kiawah I overheard a group of ladies discussing how good the restaurant was. Being curious I googled it and was impressed with the reviews. The meal was amazing. I had the shrimp and fish platter which disappeared rapidly. The batter was very light and not heavy. My family had the seafood platter and raved about the crab cakes. We plan to return soon to enjoy the oysters.

The food and the place lives up to its reputation. The wait staff was friendly and took good care of us. We had the frogmore stew, fried oysters, hush puppies and Cole slaw. They do have a full bar and a nice craft beer selection. Everything was wonderful. The shrimp were sweet.
