The place was completely gutted in 2006 and was rebuilt again. The restaurant is famous for its wonderful oysters, seafood platter and shrimps. It takes pride in using the freshest ingredients and the catch of the day is always worth trying out. You can also book private parties at this venue.

If you want to experience the true Charleston of what it was growing up in South Carolina. Go to Bowens Island. It's one of the few last icons of the family business of Charleston.

My wife and I went there last spring for my college alumni get together and had the Lowcountry boil which is really awesome. Went back today and the shrimp platter was really good and hot til the last bite. Definitely well worth the travel time and will be back.
The oysters were under steamed so half were not open at all. And we never got a bucket to put shells in. The service, which we tipped heavily when we ordered, was not great. I think their fame has gone to their heads. Oysters were raised from $17 to $21. And you have to self serve the oysters up and down flights of stairs. View was good.
We drove down from Columbia just to have dinner at this amazing place! The food is beyond fantastic and could not get any fresher seafood! Hands down one of My favorite places for seafood!
