Terrible Experience – I didn't even get to try the food the acting manager was so rude. We walked into the restaurant, submitted our name and headed to the back bar to wait. Not knowing it wasn't a traditional bar, it was customer seating, we sat down. The host came over and rudely saying it was for customers, not politely asking us to get up. After we got our table we ordered 2 mimosa's. It was a Friday afternoon & the waitress then demanded we order our food. We hadn't even looked at the menu! The acting-manager then came ... read more

Better choices in the neighborhood – Have eaten at Bongo Room twice for brunch. Food okay, long wait, overrated atmosphere. Second time we were encouraged to have coffee at the bar and after we were served they asked us to get up so they could seat other diners there. Manager was uninterested in the poor treatment. Won't be back. Try another restaurant two blocks away around the corner for better service and quality food.

Worth the wait! – Yummmmm......I'm still dreaming about the pumpkin spice pancakes that topped off our weekend getaway to chicago. Great spicy bloody marys too. Yes, it was busy and we had to wait an hour for our table, but we decided to wander the cool nearby shops and had a great time. When we got back, we were seated immediately and our fantastic food was up within 5 minutes of ordering! This place never disappoints...as long as you know going in you will wait a bit for your table. It will be well worth it!

a must eat – This is my favorite breakfast place in chicago! the food is mouth-watering good. a secret to ordering-when a meal comes with three flapjacks, you can order just one, allowing you to sample more of the tasty dishes. enjoy!

Breakfast and lunch basics get the funky Wicker Park treatment. – In Short This eclectic, colorful storefront is decorated with cool knickknack installations and a hip local crowd. Breakfasts come steaming off the line. Pancake options include brown sugar-pecan and banana, and ginger-walnut with warm maple-mascarpone cream. Eggs Florentine are light and airy, the classic preparation with hollandaise over poached eggs. Hash browns are a crusty mountain of new potatoes with lots of dill and not a hint of grease.

Hot and Cold – Good food but the waitstaff was anything but. We waited 40min for a table and the host was unpleasant (didn't smile and offered us to eat at the counter twice after we waited 1/2 hour for a TABLE). When we sat down, the waitress was impersonal and just asked us if we were ready to order. We ordered strawberry flapjacks, hashbrowns and an omlette. I thought everything was fine until she forgot my drink and dropped off the check 10 min after we got our food. We definitely felt rushed. We might be back for the fo... read more

the portions are huge. i could never in a million years eat a plate of three of their pancakes. so the secret to the bongo room is: you can order single pancakes (for just a little more than 1/3 the price of a normal order). order one of each kind of pancake, plus one slice of whatever french toast they're doing, and share with your table!

Fabulous – We waited for about 30 minutes to eat at the counter but the food was AMAZING! I had the lemon poppy seed french toast with a fresh strawberry & peach mimosa... which was SO GOOD! Everything was great! Our waitress was so sweet, food came really fast and it was perfect! We'll go back again and again!

I'm glad my sister brought me here. – The best pancakes I have ever had! My suggestion would be to come with a couple of friends so everyone can order a savory dish off the breakfast menue, and the share a plate of the most tasty pancakes in the city.
