For almost two centuries the hotel has offered hospitality to locals and visitors alike. It began life in 1816 as a simple boarding house for summer visitors to one of America's earliest seaside resorts. Its owner, Thomas H. Hughes, called his new boarding house "The Big House". We ate here this past weekend and had a horrible experience. It is a beautiful building and it looks beautiful. First it took forever to get water and bread. Drinks also took a very long time to come. The bread came out and the two loaves served on our table were frozen in the middle. We sent them back and when he FINALLY brought bread back it was still COLD in the middle. One of the meals came out cold and the mussels in the meal were frozen! The Food was amazing. Probably the best Calamari I've had in a long time! The staff was very attentive. Prices were a bit high.
