Specialties Ice cream manufacturing History Established in 1907. It all began on a summer day when local farmers decided to establish the Brenham Creamery Company and make butter from excess cream brought in by area farmers. In 1911, the creamery began making ice cream and delivering it to neighbors by horse and wagon. It was in 1930 that the company changed its name to Blue Bell Creameries after the native Texas bluebell wildflower. Take a tour for only $5. You get a scoop of ice cream of your choice. They are only open Monday-Friday excluding holidays.
Tours are definitely worth it--especially for the ice cream at the end! Skip the tour if you just want ice cream though, because it's only $1/scoop in the Country Shop. Brenham's pride and joy!
