Haven't been disappointed yet – I became aware of Bistro 7 through a friend who insisted I go there with her a few months ago. I have since become a regular. It is truly refreshing dining experience in Olde City because the kitchen and floor staffs are more interested in serving up great food and service than dishing out "attitude" and "a scene". I have not been disappointed in my nearly dozen trips there - and I have had everything from a roasted chicken to skate to scallops to lamb potpie. The menu is as fresh as the ingre... read more
Kind but slow service of okay to wretched food. – Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to Bistro 7 for dinner thinking that a 5:30 reservation would leave us plenty of time to attend an 8:00 symphony performance. Little did we know what sort of horrible and unsatisfying 3 hour ordeal lay before us. We started with appetizers. I had the gnocchi that the restaurant is known for and my boyfriend had the wild mushroom crespelle. His was admittedly tasty while the gnocchi left much to be desired. The butternut squash was well sea... read more
A fresh, jewel-box B.Y.O.B. with new American food--and, more often than not, a full house. – In Short An oasis within whispering distance of some of Philly's most boisterous bars, this 45-seat bistro attracts couples out for a date night, groups going to the nearby Arden Theatre--and, yes, some partyers headed to those bars. Chef-owner Michael O'Halloran presides over the open kitchen overlooking the cozy dining room. The selection dips into the international, with complex French soup, buttery Italian gnocchi, Spanish-inspi... read more
AMAZING FOOD! – I love this restaurant! the food is great and the service is attentive and consistent. During the week expect to have a nice long leisurely meal and on the weekends expect a great crowd but the host is always able to squeeze you in. You can also sit at the bar and watch the chef and kitchen staff work- This place is a great date place, good for post-theatre, a great place to take family and friends. Try the gnocchi!
Olde City's Best BYOB – Chef uses fresh seasonal ingredients and wonderful creativity. My favorite place to eat is at the bar where you face the chef as he prepares your meal. Reasonably priced and friendly staff!
Fabulous BYOB with amazing food – My friends and I, a party of six, ate at Bistro 7 last night. Every single dish was amazing -- delicately constructed and delicious. The carmelized onion/apple/sweet potato tart with the pork tenderloin was fabulous -- so good I was reluctant to share. The asparagus flan appetizer tasted of fresh asparagus with each bite. The malted chocolate creme dessert was creamy and chocolatey, right down to the last spponful. With six appetizers, six entrees and six desserts, we couldn't make up our mi... read more
Best of the BYOs – Bistro 7 is hands down the best restaurant in Old City, and is on my list of the top 5 restaurants in Philadelphia. Everything on the menu is excellent, and the menu changes to incorporate delicious, locally-grown foods that are in season. I live in Old City so this makes me very happy and very lucky. My favorites are the Gnocchi, the Duck, and the Rice Pudding for dessert. I could have that for every meal, but everything else I try is always amazing. Bistro 7 is a great place for date, a casual dinner wit... read more
Sublime dining experience. – I ate here for my first time on a recent Saturday night. More than anything what I liked about this place was the sensibility. It was "all about the food", and not about creating a "scene". I had the terrine of red and golden beets served with a blue cheese I believe, and some baby greens. I then had their chicken with fingerling potatoes, mushrooms and brussel sprouts followed by a chocolate pot de creme served with fresh whipped cream and a beautiful butter cookie on the side, along with some w... read more
Excellent Addition to the Philly BYO Scene – Without the smug pretension so evident at a few other BYOs that tout themselves as serving locally grown fare, Bistro 7 is quietly cooking and serving some of the best meals in Philadelphia. From the sublime tuna tartare appetizer to the homemade gnochi (puffy and packed with flavor without being overfilling) our first courses were memorable without being fussy. The duck entree was delicious and flavorful and the scallops were hands-down the best I've tried in this City. Desserts ... read more
