We used to dine here 30 years ago when it was the original ,overflowing plates with perfectly cooked seafood. We've come back hoping it was back to its original quality every 5 years or so,,, let's just say not even close. We will hit any number of places on Rte 1 and I suggest you do the same
We visited on Wednesday 6/22/2016. Jackie had Lobster Mac & Cheese and cam chowder, while I enjoyed haddock chowder and a baked haddock sandwich. All food was excellent beyond compare, as was our server Cindy, who must be the best and most pleasant server on the South Maine coast !! Absolutely a must visit for anyone in the area !! Paul E. The food and employees at Billy's is one of the best places to dine in Wells, Maine, great views and if you hit it right great sunsets.
We have been going to Billy's for years and have always loved it both for the food and the service, but we went a few nights ago and were very disappointed . I ordered the shore dinner and my husband ordered the lobster dinner . The waitress came back to the table and said they were out of steamers, so I also ordered the lobster. I have to say the food was fine but our disappointment came when we got our check . It was well over $100 ! The seafood stew was pitiful. For $16 a bowl I expect something substantial. What was served had virtually no seafood. It was lukewarm, despite me asking for it to be served extra hot. Service was very slow. Huge disappointment!
Love the clam chowder! Has a great atmosphere. Enjoyed my two visits.
