We are quite versed in the art of grilling and smoking. We use the whole gamut of necessary tools including charcoal, propane, electricity, and a variety of dishes that are inspired by our upbringing in Michigan and Tennessee. These regional dishes contain the seasonal ingredients readily available in San Francisco. Our signature dishes include Slow Smoked Pulled Pork, Coca-Cola Smoked Brisket, Maker's Mark Portobello Mushrooms and Sweet Tea BBQ Chicken

Nate Should Stick to Basketball – Found the food to be below average and the sauce too peppery. Sides were nothing special and service was OK.
barbeque for someone else – Inexpensive and filling, but not really what I consider a culinary experience. I'd rather have grilled meats, than layered-on sweet sauce. But then again, eveyone has a different opinion of what barbeque should be.
bbq alright – I love BBQ, this joint was so so, can someone direct me to the best BBQ in SF? I still eat at Nate's for there chicken.
There are better choices – What's more personal than barbecue? So, if someone says they love Nate's, that's fine with me. Live and let live. But, FOR ME, Nate's is quite weak. For ribs, I'd say Brothers-in-Law is better. For brisket or pork, Memphis Minnie's is much better. Can't speak to chicken or links.
WOW – I found Big Nate's on Waiters on wheels, now we order from here almmost every weekend.
Nates is great... – Best Pork, Beef, Chicken BBQ and fixins, west of Memphis...
Outstandingly bad food – For this restaurant to even use the term "barbecue" should be a crime. The food is dried out and tasteless and real barbecue is moist and flavorful. This place seems to think that slopping some tomato-based sauce on baked ribs makes them "barbecued." Nothing could be further from the truth. The food served here is NOT real barbecue.
Only one real bummer. – Nate's has the best ribs in SF, but on a recent visit, I ordered the brisket of beef. Ouch. I expected something I could sink my teeth into, what I got was little pieces of chopped up beef, they were more well done than I like my meat, I asked for the mildest sauce they had and it was more spicy than what I really like (I like it mild, and it wasn't that mild.) And their salads, coleslaw and potato salad, leave a lot of room for improvement, however, because of the high quality of the ribs, still some... read more
The BBQ Best Ever! – I am a fan. Big Nate is probably used to having fans chase after him since his days in the NBA. Now I chase after SF Muni to get down to Folsom Street for the BEST BBQ Ever! I appreciate those little holes in the wall which concentrate on doing one thing well. It pays off at Big Nates. I love to walk by and smell the BBQ pits, I love the Brisket and coleslaw. Get some for yourself and see. Did I mention they deliver?!
