We are quite versed in the art of grilling and smoking. We use the whole gamut of necessary tools including charcoal, propane, electricity, and a variety of dishes that are inspired by our upbringing in Michigan and Tennessee. These regional dishes contain the seasonal ingredients readily available in San Francisco. Our signature dishes include Slow Smoked Pulled Pork, Coca-Cola Smoked Brisket, Maker's Mark Portobello Mushrooms and Sweet Tea BBQ Chicken

San Francisco's best Barbecue – I have tried a number of places around the San Francisco and I find it really hard to find a good bareque place. Big Nates is by far the best I have had. The meats were great, the sauce was finger licking good, and the free home delivery on the weekends. Whats not to like????????? May I make a suggestion get the three meats team meal combo it is a great dinner for two!!!
Don't bother with delivery – Took an hour and a half and the food was cold when it got here. Quality was craptacular. Don't ignore the other reviews...ths place sucks.
BBQ Jealousy? – I recommended for my company today and was a bit worried when I saw all the reviews. It's been a few years since I had big nates and I thought maybe something happened. I need not have been worried, by brisket was absolutely excellent, the hot sauce could be hotter but I'm a bit over the top on the spices. The meat was an excellent cut and melted in my mouth. Best BBQ in SF!! – The chicken falls off the bone, the pork is tender and chewy, the BBQ sauce is out of this world. And they deliver. I love Big Nate's!
Nasty – How in the world do they call this BBQ? It tasted more like a Disney Land food court's poor attempt at mimicking BBQ. Tough, gristly meats swimming in overly sweet sauce. Atrocious.
Excellent BBQ – Nate's is my spot in the city for bbq. I recommend the 1/2 order of beef brisket (medium) with cole slaw. Tastes great and the perfect meal when I'm hungry. Simple establishment that is filled with great photos of Nate with Muhamad Ali, Joe Montana, Magic etc. Also, the aroma from all the cooking meats is great!
Memphis pork and the NBA share the spotlight at this SoMa barbecue joint. – In Short Owned by NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond, this eatery holds a couple of tables for those who can't take their barbecue back to the office, but most orders are for takeout or delivery. Diners in the know order Memphis pulled pork--tender chunks of medium-rare meat with vinegary tang and smoky overtones. Mean greens are cooked until they're tender and come studded with toothsome bits of pork; country beans are rich and meaty.
Delivery sucks – firstly, the girl i spoke to had never heard of haight street. the food took 90 minutes to arrive and was stone cold. i had to wait another 30 minutes to heat it all up. i do not recommend delivery service unless you live next door.
this is bb-q??? – Let's start with the worst ribs I've ever had!!! They were dry, tough & fatty - HELLO, not exactly what bb-q should be & I challenge anyone to try to get the corn muffin out of the paper in one piece - it will only crumble and fall to the floor. I vow to never have BB-Q anywhere other than MEMPHIS MINNIE'S - i must have been out of my mind to try another.
