Speaking as a former student, BCSD is a joke and is completely out of touch with reality and the consensus of the community they serve, made evident by the public gaff posted today. Their thinly veiled "think of the children" judgement call is exactly the kind of unprofessional conduct that I'd expect of a board so inept that it took 16 years for them to notice 1.2 million missing from their coffers

I don't know where some people get their information but the Berkeley County School Board board fully stands behind their teachers and all employees. They gave a 1% pay raise plus an additional 2% retroactive to help offset the lack of funding from the General Assembly. This came from the general fund budget at a time when the Board was and still is dealing with the aftermath of the former CFO embezzling funds and mismanaging the construction funds. Because they don’t value education as much as they think they do. They brag about the 1 percent raise that they gave to teachers that equals out to 300.00 dollars a year before taxes! Even with multiple degrees. The lack of support for their teachers and the shaming of teachers for standing up for what is right! It is sad to say that Berkeley County School District is becoming the new Charleston county. I’m glad my children attend Dorchester District 2 where they value my children’s safety and education by supporting the edu... read more

support and compensate our educators. communicate with parents on issues vice sending daily inane messages regarding nothing in particular. in short, be decent.

They do not support their teachers. Any school district that actively opposes teachers cannot be recommended.
