Excellent ankle specialist! My 14 year old son had the internal brace ankle stabilization surgery at the end of March 2018. By the end of May, he was fully off restrictions and able to play baseball again...and pitching better than ever! Parents never want to hear that their child needs surgery (especially if they are athletes), but Proto set my mind at ease and took great care of my son.
Dr Proto Is a wonderful surgeon and a great doctor he did surgery on my left ankle and made a correction that I had suffered in pain with for years. He continues my follow up and as needed care and he is wonderful

This is the kind of doctor you want to have take care of you! He is so professional, patient, understanding, & thorough. Between the questionnaire & the X-rays before hand he is prepared to discuss your case instead of trying to figure it out when he gets in the room. All of my questions were answered in a way that they were not over my head. He provides choices in how he can treat you & doesn’t just tell you what he is going to do. He is the only one I will ever trust with my feet and ankles!!!

Like the last reviewer- I asked about clipping my nails which the doctor said he didnt do, and proceeded to do it anyway- then surprised me with a bill for $105 after submitting that to my insurance company knowing full well it wouldnt be covered, then helped himself to the money out of our checking account coincidentally the same day I called and inquired about the bogus charge. Very dishonest.
Called and reception not friendly. Asked if Dr. Proto deals with diabetics especially in regards to their feet/nails. Was informed they "don't do nail clippings" so I guess if you have great insurance for sports injuries or surgeries this is the place to come.
Dr. Proto is amazing. I came to him for a bunionectomy on my right foot. I previously had my left foot done by another doctor in a different state, so Dr. Proto did not waste time giving me information that I already knew. He is always professional and makes sure I don't have any questions before leaving. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs foot surgery.
He is the best in Hampton Roads.
That's my issue. I only meant with dr Porto a whole 5 minutes after its was determine. My problem would be corrected surgery. I had 4 visit and each one was handled by his pa. I really liked his pa. He can and will answer and explain everything to you. ..however this was my first time to any type of doctors where I was seen by the dr pa first and basically thur all my cisit,, I am not sure I like this. I like a dr that takes time to see his patients and not just look at us like case #
