Smells of mold and mildew I recently visited someone who lives in this complex and I was shocked by the living conditions. The entire building has a strong smell of mold and mildew. Paint peeling off the walls. Carpet looks 40 years old. Oh, and someone pee'd in the elevator.
Awful Would rate zero if I could. This place in INFESTED with bed bugs and roaches. Managers are nice when your paying rent but if you need them for anything else expect attitude and feeling like a bother. Repairs are “fixed” after weeks and usually end up worse off than when reported broken. The size of apartments and pool are not worth everything else you could possibly deal with. Old friend... When I started working for The Belcrest, it was back in 1994. I had no experience in property management, but learned fairly quick. I went from being a Leasing Consultant to Assistant Manger. We had tenants that had lived in the building since it was a hotel and they survived the change over to apartments. Great Experience I just recently moved out of the Belcrest Apartment because i finished school. If i wasn't planning on going back home after school was finished I would have definitely stayed here longer. I just wanted to bring some light on all the negative comments. A couple months before me planning on leaving I went down to the office to talk to Lauren & Stephanie about how I would get back my security deposit and they explained in great detail on what i should do. Belle of the ball... This once grand hotel/apartments used to be the place you wanted to be...back before 2002 Belcrest had an awesome owner and great staff and classy tenants. It got bought/sold twice since then. It's sad reading the reviews as the Belcrest used to be the Belle of the ball.
Very shady, nothing gets fixed Nothing every gets fixed in our apartment. Even when we request things, if someone comes they do nothing at all or make it worse. It’s cheapish yeah, but the smell is awful. Lauren is the person who you have to talk to every time for paying rent and such, she seems genuinely nice, until theres a problem Like a major fix that has never been done or you want your security deposit, then there can be an issue where she is very rude. Worst time of my life! I lived here for 1 year and most of the time did not have hot water. Management is rude and not helpful, overpriced... $90 a MONTH for parking (and you have to pay to be on the waitlist) in addition to rent.... had to get repairs done on my car from the potholes in the parking lot. Not to mention how bad it smelled in there, the broken elevators and on the weekends you will see biohazards in the elevators and hallways. Completely awful experience.
Good for college students Being a sophomore at Wayne State, it is affordable and the location is fantastic. No need to drive to a parking structure, can just wake up and walk to class. Upgrades have been occurring the entire year I have lived here. Every problem we have had has been fixed, and never had problems with management. As far as bed bugs and cockroaches, they can happen literally anywhere. Invest in bed bug protectors for mattresses and box springs. We have had no issues. Do Not Live Here Bug (yes that kind) infested building, floors smell of pet droppings, often vomit or other equally gross things in sometimes-working elevators, management will not return security deposits or actually fix issues. Building needs updates and updated ownership or to be gutted. Not worth your time money or sanity. The pool is a guise and dos not make up for living conditions.
